Marking another revolutionary milestone, in the history of Sri Lankan Percussion Art. Sharing the rhythm of humanity witnessed the incipience of “Thuryaa” the first ever women s’ drums ensemble in Sri Lanka. Seeded within the walls of University of the Visual and Performance Arts, the ensemble was formed with 9 talented under graduate minds. Shaping with the essences of Kandiyan, Low country & Sabaragamu the tri tradition of the Sri Lankan percussion art mixing with offshore percussion music we set our path on a colorful effort to research innovate and create a unique masterpiece.
Marking another milestone of the history of Sri Lankan traditional art, the foremost Women’s Drums Essemble is ready to embark with their second performance after a successful performance on 10th February 2015 at the Panee Bharatha Auditorium of University of Visual and Performing Arts.
Thurya is ready with a novelty of their performance at the 2nd Consecutive time with the participation of renowned artists and famous celebrities of Sri Lanka with a great public gathering.
Malini Fonseka, Wajira Chithrasena and many famous female celebrities will be special guests of the event.
Thurya will mark another milestone of their performance in the Sri Lankan Percussion Band history. It is expected more than 1,700 of public participation.
